Kosher Dill Pickles are uniquely American. The methods used for making them were developed in New York City by Jewish pickle makers toward the end of the 19th century. They are characterized by the addition of garlic and dill to the vinegar. While they have their roots in Eastern Europe, but they are now distinctly American.
